FACTS:
Country radio in the Netherlands
has seen substantial changes in recent years. Several national programs were
discontinued so that country music fans are now mainly served by approximately
100 local stations.
Countrytrack
is a foundation that offers weekly country music programs to about
36% of these
local stations. The programs have a broad format with contemporary country as
well as classics, bluegrass, cajun and other related styles.
Countrytrack
is a non-profit
organization that aims to promote country music in as many ways as possible. It
started in 1986 as a country show on the local radio station of the city of
Tilburg. Soon, requests came in from other local stations to broadcast the show.
In 1991, we established the
Countrytrack
foundation and the number of
stations that aired the show increased steadily. Our reach has expanded
from 60,000 to over 1,500,000 listeners. A full list of the local stations that
currently use our program is enclosed.
Jac
Oerlemans, the chairman of the
Countrytrack
Foundation, has gained extensive
expertise on Dutch national radio in producing, directing and presenting, both
on the air and on stage. He also works as producer or assistant producer for
live recordings of large shows and festivals such as Floralia
Country Festival Oosterhout, Blue Highway Utrecht,
Take Roots Assen, the
Dutch Country Music Award Gala and Festival Mundial.
The
Countrytrack
Foundation is a 100%
volunteer operation. We offer the programs to the stations free of charge and we
receive no advertisement income or other financial support.
Consequently, we depend on record
companies and artists to send us their products and news.
Therefore, we would appreciate it
very much if you could put us on your mailing list for promotional copies of and
information about your products.
Countrytrack
also produces Muziek Koerier, a variety show with local information that
includes a considerable number of country songs.
Countrytrack
is
a country show that is recorded in the
Countrytrack
Foundation’s
own professional radio studio and distributed to several local radio stations. On this show, we play both modern and traditional country music.
On a regular basis, we broadcast specials of and interviews with national and
international artists. We appreciate opportunities to do interviews with
international artists that visit the Netherlands so that we can use these
interviews on our shows. We coordinate these activities through our good
contacts with national and international promotors, artists, managers and record
labels.
We will be pleased to give you
further information about
Countrytrack
or send you a sample program.
We look forward to hearing from you
and receiving your materials.
